Tax Problems

The IRS is incredibly powerful, and the tax code is awfully opaque. That makes people vulnerable and fearful. We deal with the IRS on a daily basis and can help you resolve your most complicated and haunting tax problems. We pride ourselves on being very efficient, affordable, and extremely discreet.

We have seen so many taxpayers toss away certified letters from the agency in hopes they will disappear but the IRS problems will not just go away by themselves; they just keep getting worse with penalties and interest being added each day.

We offer the following IRS problem resolution services:

IRS Audit Representation
We handle all the correspondence and meetings with the IRS agents and we help you identify necessary supporting documents and organize them in the way to satisfy requests from the examiner.

An IRS audit is the most terrifying event for taxpayers and the ones that decided to handle the audit on their own will admit that it has been one of the most horrific, scary and unpleasant experiences in their lives. We can’t make the audit go away but we can certainly help to ease the process and take away anxiety.

Non-Filed Tax Returns
Too many people mistakenly think that by not filing taxes, they are flying “under the radar” which is not true. Even if you owe taxes and can’t pay them – you want to file tax returns for several reasons:

  • The IRS normally can audit your tax returns for the last three years since the due date or the filing date of the return – this is called a statute of limitations. If you haven’t filed a return that means the statute of limitations hasn’t even began – for example, if you haven’t filed taxes for the last six years, all of those years will still open for examinations.
  • The IRS can actually “make up” and file tax return on behalf of you. Many people don’t know that but the IRS can look at your most recent income history and file a return according to that which could be very different from a reality.
  • You cannot setup an installment agreement or submit offer-in-compromise for back taxes if you are not current with your tax filings.

IRS notices
There are multiple types of notices that taxpayers may receive from the agency and they don’t always translate into tax liability when handled properly. Let our experts review your notice and provide you with a sound advice on plausible correspondence.

Back Taxes Owed
Tax penalties and interest add up quickly and you want to get the IRS off your back as soon as possible. We offer several options when it comes to resolving unpaid taxes.

  • Payment deferral
  • Installment agreement
  • Offer in Compromise
  • Uncollectible status

IRS Liens and Levies
Liens filed against you by the IRS also show up on your credit report and often prevent you from opening a checking account or borrowing against any assets, like your home. We will work with the IRS and Taxpayer Advocate service, if needed, to help you get them resolved.

People often have a misconception that they need a tax attorney if any issues arise with the IRS. There are situations when legal advice is necessary, however when it comes to compliance issues and back taxes your CPA is a better and a lot less expensive choice.
